UPDATE: At approximately 10:06 a.m. on November 28 Green River Fire Department responded to a truck fire at mile marker 71 on Interstate 80 which is near Little America.
When fire fighters arrived they discovered the driver of the east bound rig pulled over into parking area and was not blocking the interstate. Not being forced to work among interstate traffic offered a definite safety advantage to the first-responders.
Green River Fire and Little America’s Fire Department were original dispatched. Crews quickly went through the 300 gallons on the Little America apparatus and the 1,000 gallons Green River Fire brought, Sweetwater County Fire District #1 showed up with water tender. The additional water it carried was also used on the trailer fire.
The trailer was hauling meat products. The cause of the fire appears to be electrical according to GRFD Battalion Chief Larry Erdmann.
UPDATE: We can tell you Green River Fire Department tackled the blaze backed up by Sweetwater County Fire District Number One.
No other information is available as we have not received a return phone call from the GRFD. Likely because of the holiday weekend.
