ROCK SPRINGS – After a couple of busy weeks for the Sweetwater County School District No. 1 Transportation Department, the new bus routes have been updated.

At the regular board meeting this month several parents voiced concerns about the bus routes. Issues raised included making children walk in frigid temperatures, crossing busy streets and changes to bus stops.

The board tabled the bus routes to allow the public to take a more active roll in the bus routes. Two forums took place allowing concerns to be voiced, discussed and investigated. The Transportation Department went right to work on these concerns and if the concerns warranted a change, it was made.

The additional changes were made and the routes were updated. The changes made will be good this year but the Transportation Department stressed expect changes in the 2016-2017 routes.

On Monday, Aug. 31, the SWCSD No. 1 Board will have a special meeting to approve these updated routes. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. and will be at the Central Administration Building.
