UW Track & Field Inks 11 Signees

LARAMIE – The University of Wyoming track & field program has signed 11 new athletes to its 2017-18 roster, head coach Bryan Berryhill announced Tuesday.

Of the 11 new signees, six are Cowboys and five are Cowgirls, while the athletes hail from five states. The group includes two throwers, two jumpers, three distance runners and four sprinters and hurdlers.

“We are very excited about this recruiting class,” Berryhill said following the early signing period. “There were specific event areas we wanted to address during the early signing period and we accomplished that goal. The coaching staff believes these student-athletes can be immediate point scorers and help this program move towards our goal of winning a Mountain West championship. I’m very proud of all the hard work our coaching staff put in to bring this class of talented student-athletes to the University of Wyoming.”

Wyoming throws coach Paul Barrett: “Cosette is without a doubt one of the finest all-around athletes to ever come out of the state of Wyoming.   Her work ethic is second to none.  She trains year-round, non-stop, in three sports with great determination and passion.  While she has certainly had success in the throwing events at this point in her high school career, her current personal bests in the throws do not show her true potential.  I believe once she concentrates full-time in the throws, her performances will increase dramatically. I am thrilled that Cosette wants to follow in the footsteps of her UW alum parents, former Cowboy thrower John Stellern and Sheri Stellern.”
