UPDATE 7:30 p.m. — A Rock Springs man was arrested for DUI after crashing his truck into a local school.
Officers of the Rock Springs Police Department were dispatched to Eastside Elementary School located at 305 “G” Street in reference to a vehicle that had crashed into the school Monday afternoon around 5:07 p.m.
Upon arrival, police found a hole on the front of the building on the southeast side.
As a result of the investigation, Louis H Stanton Senior, age 77, of Rock Springs was arrested for alleged Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.
Stanton received relatively minor injuries as a result of the crash.
School was not in session during the incident and no children were at risk. School officials reported that school will still be held on Tuesday, December 15th.
All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in court.
ROCK SPRINGS — Eastside Elementary School was damaged around 5:30 p.m. December 14th by a truck that struck the building.
Principal Brent McMurtrey said the damage would be patched up tonight with boards, and it will be business as usual for the school come morning.
There is no word yet on the how the wreck happened. We will update this post as soon as possible with further information from the police.
McMurtrey said updates would be going out to parents via the ‘SchoolWay‘ application.
