Wallen Ties for 22nd in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.  – Wyoming senior Ryan Wallen notched a final-round 73 to move into a tie for 22nd place as the Cowboys wrapped up play at the 62nd annual William H. Tucker Intercollegiate on Saturday.

Wallen recorded four birdies in the final round on his way to a tournament score of 222 (+6), fighting through unfavorable conditions throughout the weekend at the University of New Mexico’s Championship Course. Wyoming finished 15th as a team with a score of 919 (+55), contributing its best single-round score of the tournament during Saturday’s final.

“Ryan had a really good finish,” Wyoming head coach Joe Jensen said Saturday afternoon. “Really, the top three guys played pretty solid. I expect really good play at CU. It wouldn’t surprise me to have a golfer make a run at the individual title and to have our team be in the hunt,” he said of the upcoming Mark Simpson Colorado Invite.

San Diego State captured the team title in Albuquerque, while Colorado State’s Blake Cannon finished atop the individual leaderboard with a three-day score of 210 (-6). After the tournament in Boulder, the Cowboys will wrap up fall play at the Paintbrush Intercollegiate in Parker, Colo., on Oct. 10-11.
