Welcome to our series, #WHYoming.
We are highlighting people from around our communities and asking them a few questions. We want to learn a little about them and see why they chose this great state to raise their families, start their businesses, or simply to ask — Why Wyoming?
For this week’s #WHYoming, I had a chance to talk with Kimi Seymour, Executive Director of Inside Connection Pregnancy Resource Center. Kimi has been a Registered Nurse for 20 years and has dedicated her career to helping others. She is very humbled through her involvement with Inside Connection.
Kimi is a longtime resident of Rock Springs, proclaiming herself as a “Tiger Til I Die”. She has a lot of pride in her town and has spent her time here helping out where she can. One of her favorite things about Rock Springs is how everyone rallies together, and she has proven herself to be one of those great community members who is always ready and willing to step up for her fellow residents. It’s because of people like Kimi that Rock Springs and Sweetwater County is such a great place to live.
Kimi, what do you do for a living?
I am a Registered Nurse of 20 years and am currently the Executive Director of Inside Connection PRC.
What do you enjoy about your job?
I absolutely love that I am able to use both my nursing skills and knowledge for the ministry that we provide at Inside Connection and that I am able to show the love of Christ to our clients and community. Seeing life on an ultrasound at five weeks, five days is beyond astounding!

Of all the things you’ve done throughout the community over the years, what are some of the things you’re most proud to have been involved in?
I am proud to have started the tradition of parents hosting the annual 8th Grade Formal in 2012. It’s a tradition in our community that is still being supported and funded by the parents of each class. It has also been a pleasure and honor to have been involved with the various youth activities in our community including YAFL (Young American Football League), Top of the Rock Wrestling, Select Baseball, RSHS Cheer, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, along with helping out in various local fundraisers such as Cowboys Against Cancer, benefits for Josh and Braxton Patterson, and the Little Skittles Baseball Tournament to name a few.
Yet, the most humbling and exciting involvement has been with Inside Connection.
How did you end up in Rock Springs?
I was born in Lander, Wyoming, but raised in Rock Springs. Both my parents had strong roots here with my father working for Questar and my mom owning and operating Noah’s Ark Preschool. I am a lifelong resident of The Rock, having moved away for only a short time from 2001-2007. Many people know that I am a “TTID” … Tiger Til I Die!

What do you appreciate most about our community?
Our community is the absolute BEST about supporting and rallying for each other. We always come together to show our love and will do just about anything to help someone in need. THAT is community and what I appreciate most!
What are some of your hobbies?
Photography. I love capturing priceless moments! Anything and everything that is shopping! And buying BOOTS! Some might say that I collect boots! Baseball games and “Get Aways” with family and friends.

If you could give one brief piece of advice, what would it be?
Fight to stay focused on what matters most!
Where is your favorite place to hang out in Sweetwater County?
Charlotte Yenney’s RV because it means it’s girls night, Sidekicks Book and Wine Bar because the atmosphere, charcuterie boards, and drinks are amazing, and of course the ball fields!

Who would you want to play you in a movie about yourself?
Sandra Bullock, because she is an accomplished actress who is convincing in whatever genre she’s in, from comedy, to action, to drama, to romance… and my life encompasses it all!
What would you sing at karaoke?
Hmmm.. anything from the 80s. Dancing Queen or Sweet Caroline. Actually, I’d probably be game for anything!
What is one of your proudest accomplishments?
My proudest accomplishments are my sons, Jackson and Cole. Money will never be my biggest success, it will be who I raised.

What is something unique about you?
My mom was my preschool teacher.
Why do you choose to live in Wyoming?
Because Wyoming is everything that represents life! God, country, family, beauty and simplicity, and wide open spaces where the stars are visible in the night skies! THANK GOD for WHYoming!
