Who will the winner be this year; Annual blood drive competition right around the corner

SWEETWATER COUNTY – When Wyoming residents think about rivalries there are several which come to mind. There is Wyoming vs. Colorado St., Pinedale vs. Big Piney, Natrona vs. Kelly Walsh and of course, Rock Springs vs. Green River. But every once in awhile, there is a competition where the winner is much larger than just one school.

It is that time of year again for the annual blood drive competition between Rock Springs and Green River. While it is two rivals going head to head, the winners are not RSHS and GRHS but rather the number of lives this one competition can save.

For Rock Springs, it’s I Bleed Orange time. Rock Springs will  have its community drive on Tuesday, January 27th from noon to 6 p.m. at the old senior citizen center. The student drive will be on Wednesday, January 28th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Rock Springs High School. Residents can sign up at RSHS or online at bloodhero.com. The student code is RSHS and the community code is RS. Please contact Jaynie Welsh at (307) 389-3720 with any questions.

For Green River, It is I Bleed Green time. The community blood drive will be on Monday, January 26th at the Green River Recreation Center from noon to 6 p.m. The school blood drive will take place January 29th at 9 a.m. in the GRHS Theatre. Go to  bloodhero.com to sign up or call GRHS for more information.

It is also important to remember that you do not have to take part in the drive at the community you support. All you have to do is tell those drawing blood which community you support and it will be credited to that community.
