WYOMING — The latest report from the Research and Planning section of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services shows Wyoming’s unemployment rate fell for the eighth straight month.
According to the report, the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell from 5.1 percent in November 2020 to 4.8 percent in December 2020 — lower than the U.S. unemployment rate of 6.7 percent.
Locally, Sweetwater County’s unemployment rate was second highest in the state, however, the rate did fall slightly from 6 percent in November 2020 to 5.8 percent in December 2020. Natrona County had the highest unemployment rate in the state at 6.5 percent.
Most other county unemployment rates changed very little from November 2020 to December 2020. However, large decreases were seen in a few counties. Teton County’s unemployment rate fell from 5.8 percent to 3.9 percent as the winter tourist season ramped up. Jobless rates also fell in Natrona County (down from 7.1 percent to 6.5 percent), Converse County (down from 5.1 percent to 4.5 percent) and Campbell County (down from 5.8 percent to 5.2 percent).
The January unemployment report from Research and Planning is scheduled for release on March 8, 2021.
