ROCK SPRINGS – Local representatives of Questar Gas subsidiary Wexpro presented Western Wyoming Community College with a check for $15,000 on Feb. 23 in recognition of the productive ongoing partnership between the company and the College’s Technology & Industry Division.
Wexpro District Manager Kasey Werkele joined Drilling Supervisor Paul Rauzi and Technical Services Manager David Mares – all Western alumni – on a visit to campus last week to present the donation check to Western President Karla Leach, Technology & Industry Division Chair Paul Johnson, and Community Relations Director David Tate.
“We’ve got quite a few employees now who have gone through Western,” Werkele said. “They come right out of Paul’s classes, and they’re ready to integrate right into operator positions, technician positions.”
“Students transfer from Western right into industry, ready to work,” Mares added.
Leach, Tate, and Johnson thanked Wexpro for its continued support of student success in Western’s oil and gas programs. President Leach noted that Werkele, Mares, and Rauzi serve as great examples of high-quality Sweetwater County employees who received their industry education at Western. And Johnson said Wexpro’s support of the program helps Western to continue educating the region’s oil and gas workforce.
“Wexpro has been a great partner,” Johnson said. “They’ve given us lots of money, lots of parts, lots of training. They don’t mind for me to go to their training, and then they send their people up to our trainings on the workforce side. It’s been a great partnership all the way through.”
