ROCK SPRINGS – Smith’s employees and Western Wyoming Community College students from Christopher Clark’s Wellness class are teaming up and running a diaper drive through the month of November. Diapers are a basic necessity for a baby. They are as important as parental love and food and there is a growing need in our community for diaper assistance. United Way of Southwest Wyoming has established the Community Diaper Bank to help with this need.
Why a diaper bank
•For a baby’s health and well-being
•To ensure good hygiene for the entire family
•Diapers are expensive and cut into a family’s budget for 2-3 years
•To prevent babies from being left in soiled diapers too long
•Unhappy baby leads to stressed parents, which in extreme cases leads to child abuse
•Cloth diapers cannot be washed at laundromats
•Most childcare facilities require the parents to provide diapers
•No childcare means missing work
•Diapers cannot be purchased with other assistance program
Diapers can be dropped off at Smith’s through November or at the college through December 20th. For more information please contact Amanda DeBernardi at 307-362-5003.
