
ROCK SPRINGS – Ren Nelson, 90, of Rock Springs, Wyoming passed away on Monday, November 18, 2013 at Deer Trail Assisted Living in Rock Springs, Wyoming. A long time resident of Rock Springs, Wyoming and former resident of St. George, Utah, Mr. Nelson died following a brief illness.
He was born on June 17, 1923 in Linwood, Utah, the son of the late Vernon and Lillie Twitchell Nelson.
Mr. Nelson attended schools in Manila, Utah and was Valedictorian of his class, graduating in 1941.
He married the former Norma Hope Searle in Green River, Wyoming on March 18, 1946 and she preceded him in death on June 2, 2013. They were married for sixty seven years.
Mr. Nelson was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II.
He was employed for many years as a mechanic for Mountain Fuel and later for Champlin Oil and retired in 1985.
Mr. Nelson was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
His interests included spending time with his wife and family and he enjoyed camping.
Survivors include one son Gail Nelson and wife Jan of Tomball, Texas; two daughtes Gloria Anderson and husband Byron of West Valley, Utah and Lorraine Muniz of Rock Springs, Wyoming; twelve grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Norma; two brothers Joe and Jay Nelson and one sister June Campbell.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 22, 2013 at the White Mountain L.D.S. Chapel, 3306 White Mountain Blvd., Rock Springs, Wyoming. Military graveside services and interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call on Thursday afternoon from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk Street, Rock Springs, Wyoming and on Friday at the church one hour prior to services.
