Brayden Flack

Meet Brayden Flack!
Brayden is the man at SweetwaterNOW when it comes to sports, podcasting, video, and more….
Always willing to try new concepts for community journalism, Brayden is a young star on our team.

Brayden Flack is a 23-year-old native of Rock Springs, Wyoming with three years of professional experience in journalism.

Brayden began writing for several sports websites in high school, including Sports Illustrated’s Fansided. During his Junior year of high school, he wrote content for Vavel.com, where he managed a team of sports writers around the country. Throughout his senior year, he wrote a weekly sports column for the Rocket-Miner Newspaper.

After graduating from Rock Springs High School, Brayden was approached and offered a full-time internship from the Rocket Miner, a local print newspaper. For the next five months, he helped cover local sports and community stories in Sweetwater County. One featured story written by Brayden about a local Make-A-Wish boy receiving a hockey rink in his backyard was picked up by the Associated Press and shared by The Washington Times.

Taking a two-year break from working to serve a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Johannesburg, South Africa, Brayden returned to his home in Rock Springs to further his education at Western Wyoming Community College (WWCC). In 2019, he graduated from WWCC with his Associate degree in Communications.

In 2018, Brayden took a part-time position with SweetwaterNOW. Originally, he covered local sports on the weekends. After graduating from WWCC, he joined the staff full-time where he has helped to grow SweetwaterNOW and explore new ways of creating content through podcasting and videography.

Brayden continues to look for new ways to bring unique and informative content to the people of Sweetwater County. Those who know him best would describe his passion for telling stories and creating content as a part of his identity.

A little more about Brayden

Describe your typical workday.
I would say a typical workday includes searching for stories that are relevant to the community and then capturing those events whether it be through photographs or an article and sharing it with our readers. Each day provides new discoveries, opportunities, and stories!

What are you most passionate about professionally?
I’m most passionate about serving our community as a reporter with honesty, integrity, determination, and accuracy.

If you weren’t so dang good at your job, what would you be doing for a living?
I’d be pursuing some kind of business idea. I’ve always been an entrepreneur and I continue to work on my business ventures on the side!

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I definitely believed that I was going to be playing professional football. But obviously, my talent was too elite for even the NFL.

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Loyal, Curious, and Ambitious.

How would most people describe you?
I believe most people would describe me as a reserved individual who eventually opens up once you get to know me. I would say most people enjoy my humor and how willing I am to listen.

What are 3 of your pet peeves?
Laziness, Slow Drivers and Empty Cheez-It Boxes that have three crackers.

What are you happiest doing when you’re not working?
I enjoy creating art and watching sports.

Do you have a pet(s)?
I have a Beagle named Jax. We picked him up from the pound in Green River. He’s quite the character. Besides getting into trouble he is the most adorable Beagle. Ever.

If you could be anywhere, right this minute, where would it be?
South Africa. I lived there for two years. I love the culture and the people there. It opened my eyes to see how others live with very little compared to here in the US. Unfortunately, it’s quite expensive to travel there.

What is your favorite food?
My favorite food is a steak burrito from Cafe Rio.

Do you have any skills most people don’t know about?
I think most people don’t know that I have artistic capabilities. It’s a rather new skill I’ve learned.

What would be your personal motto? Or your favorite quote…
“Decisions determine destiny.”
-Thomas S. Monson

Is there anything else you want to share about yourself on the world wide web?
I’m a huge sneakerhead. I probably have more shoes than most women. And I’m okay with that.
