Mustang Loop Bike Trails Now Open to Riders of All Ages

The Mustang Loop came together thanks to the help of many contributors and volunteers who helped build and clean up the recreation area.

ROCK SPRINGS — The brand new Mustang Loop bike trails are now open for riders of all ages following a large clean-up effort and and a dedication ceremony yesterday afternoon.

The Loop is located behind the parking lot at Western Wyoming Community College and runs adjacent to Gateway Blvd. The course runs 2.7 miles and accommodates riders of all ages and skill levels.

The unveiling ceremony conducted by Sweetwater County Travel and Tourism CEO Jenissa Meredith and Bike and Trike owner Jason Medler revealed a temporary sign that lays out the various legs of the trail.

“The trail looks really great today thanks to the hard work of the Rock Springs Beautification Committee and some local partners and volunteers who came together yesterday to clean up trash along the trail in preparation for this event. ,” Meredith said. “Although it has taken a village to create this trail, it literally would not have become a reality without Randall Dale who spearheaded this project from day one.”

Medler told the audience that the trails were specifically for the entire family to enjoy.

“This is a green loop which means there is nothing too difficult for riders of any age,” he said. “It’s really perfect for the whole family.

Travel and Tourism is directing people who visit Sweetwater County to the Bike and Trike for rentals to give The Loop a try.

Meredith said the current signage on the trails is just temporary. Permanent signage will be placed in the fall and a ceremony involving Western students is being scheduled.
