Doretta Finley, 68, passed away on January 11, 2026, in Yuma, Arizona due to sudden illness. Her husband of 52 years and oldest son were at her side.
Doretta was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on April 9, 1957. Throughout her childhood Doretta moved around to many places including Florida and Ohio, before moving to West Virginia where she met her husband, Gerald Finley. Doretta moved to Green River, Wyoming with her husband where they would live for the next 33 years before retiring to Yuma, Arizona in 2011. Doretta thrived in her 20+ year career as a school bus driver in Green River, where she was a favorite among the kids. Doretta enjoyed social gatherings and activities such as bowling, softball, and fishing throughout her life. She was a joy to be around and loved by all who knew her.
Doretta was preceded in death by her father, Franz Schillumeit, mother, Mayoda Harmon, brothers Ted and Glen Schillumeit, and sister Serena.
She was survived by husband Gerald Finley, son Joshua and wife Tara of Green River, son Brandon and wife Melinda, also of Green River. Grandchildren are Rebecca and Josh of Texas; Araya, Hunter, and Gage of Green River; Skyler of Laramie; and Hunter and fiancé Aurora of Sheridan. Great grandchildren include Kaira, Evan and Annalise of Texas. Nephews are Michael, Mitchell and Chris of Virginia.
There will be a celebration of life scheduled for a later date.
