Executive Director

Rock Springs Young at Heart

Position Summary:

The Executive Director serves as the chief administrative and operational leader of the Rock Springs Young at Heart (“Center”) and is responsible for the overall management, strategic direction, and day-to-day operations of the Center. The Executive Director works in partnership with the Board of Directors to advance the Center’s mission of supporting the health, independence, and well-being of the community.

This position provides leadership in program development, financial stewardship, staff supervision, community partnerships, and compliance with applicable regulations and funding requirements.

The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

Organizational Leadership & Operations:

  • Provide leadership and oversight for all programs, services, and operations of the Center.
  • Ensure services meet the needs of the community and align with the Center’s mission and strategic priorities.
  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives; review all documents on an annual, biannual basis, or as needed, if sooner.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for visitors, staff, and volunteers.

 

Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
  • Monitor financial performance and ensure responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
  • Oversee accounting processes, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements, contracts, and funding agreements.
  • Identify opportunities for revenue growth and financial sustainability.

 

Board Relations & Governance:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between staff and the Board of Directors.
  • Support the Board in strategic planning, policy development, and organizational decision-making.
  • Prepare reports, recommendations, and materials for board meetings.
  • Assist with implementation of board policies and directives.
  • Other duties as requested by the Board of Directors.

 

Staff Leadership:

  • Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate staff and volunteers. Ensure all staff records are updated annually and kept confidential.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture that promotes teamwork, accountability, and professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, personnel policies, and workplace standards.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and conduct regular performance evaluations.

 

Community Relations & Partnerships:

  • Represent the Center within the community, building relationships with stakeholders, partners, and local agencies.
  • Promote programs and services through outreach, public relations, and community engagement efforts.
  • Collaborate with local organizations, healthcare providers, and government entities to enhance services for seniors.

 

Program Development & Service Delivery:

  • Oversee planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and activities.
  • Ensure programs support social engagement, nutrition, wellness, transportation, and other applicable services.
  • Monitor participant satisfaction and program outcomes.

 

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation, reporting, and licensing requirements.
  • Oversee safety procedures, emergency preparedness, and incident reporting.

 

 

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, public administration, social services, business, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of leadership or management experience, preferably in nonprofit, human services, healthcare, or senior services. Experience working with boards of directors preferred.
  • Financial management and budgeting experience required.

 

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong leadership and organizational management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of aging services, community resources, and senior programming preferred.
  • Ability to build partnerships and maintain positive community relationships.
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems and office software.

 

Work Schedule & Expectations:

  • Full-time position with a minimum of 40 hours worked weekly, on-site or representing the Center in the community; scheduled hours to be set and approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Some evening or weekend hours may be required for events, meetings, or operational needs.
  • Regular on-site presence is required to support staff, programs, and participants.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move throughout the facility and attend community meetings.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.

 

Employment Status and Compensation:

This is a full-time exempt position. Compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. After 90 days of employment, the following benefits become available:

  • Health Insurance
    • Employer pays 80% of the employee’s premium
    • Employer pays 20% of the premium for one dependent

  • IRA Retirement Plan

 

Employer matches up to 3% of gross wages
