LARAMIE — Green River graduate Isabel Vasco has earned her second Mountain West Freshman of the Week honor this season as the University of Wyoming soccer team takes its historic road winning streak into Friday’s match at UC Davis.

The Cowgirls will face the Aggies at 7 p.m. at Aggie Soccer Field in Davis, California. The match will be streamed on MW+.

Vasco has been an important part of Wyoming’s best start in program history. The freshman has three goals and three assists for nine points through 10 matches, helping the Cowgirls build an 8-2-0 overall record and a 1-0-0 mark in Mountain West play.

Her second conference freshman honor comes as Wyoming prepares to close one of the longest road swings in program history. Friday will be the Cowgirls’ sixth consecutive match away from Laramie, and they have won each of the first five.

“We are creating a lot of confidence in our performances on the road,” head coach Josh Purdum said. “Momentum is so important. We tried to schedule a non-conference where there’s balance between winning games and challenging games. We went above and beyond in non-conference, and we’ve carried that into conference.

“I’m quite proud of the performances.”

Wyoming’s six-game road winning streak is the longest in program history. The Cowgirls also enter Friday with their best overall start in school history.

Wyoming has outscored its opponents 20-7 this season, with Alyssa Glover leading the way with five goals and three assists for 13 points. Glover is one goal away from matching the program’s all-time record of 25, set by Jamie Tatum in 2023.

Vasco and Maddie Burr have three goals and three assists apiece for nine points. Alisa Bunn and Brooke Brown have each scored twice.

Goalkeeper Haley Bartel has continued to add to her school-record shutout total. She has six clean sheets this season and 24 for her career, five more than the second-highest total in program history. Bartel has made 27 saves while allowing six goals for a 0.61 goals-against average.

The Cowgirls are ranked No. 5 in the United Soccer Coaches’ Pacific Region Poll and No. 66 in the RPI, both program-best marks.

UC Davis enters Friday’s match at 2-7-2 overall and 0-2-0 in Mountain West play. The Aggies opened conference play in Colorado Springs, losing to Air Force and Colorado College.

UC Davis has been outscored 15-6 this season, and no Aggie has scored more than once. Piper Wilkison has started the last two matches and six overall, making 15 saves while allowing nine goals for a 1.50 goals-against average.

Friday will be the first meeting between Wyoming and UC Davis.

After the trip to California, the Cowgirls will finally return home following six consecutive road matches. Wyoming hosts San Jose State on Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. at the Madrid Sports Complex.
