Kids in Sweetwater County are invited to come explore different cultures during the “Kids Around the World” day hosted by the Sweetwater County Child Developmental Center. The event is Friday, March 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at both SCCDC locations in Rock Springs and Green River.
This Family Friday event will demonstrate how children learn and play in different cultures. People will have a chance to “travel” all over world to Holland, Mexico, Zimbabwe, and more. Each station will feature a different activity that will teach children about diversity. Families can also create family trees, play with international toys, listen to cultural music, and visit the export/import station.
During this event we want to help families encourage their children to build positive identities and respect for people of different backgrounds. Working with families is an important first step in helping children accept, understand, and value their rich and varied world.
-Jackie Mendoza, SCCDC Client Coordinator
Other organizations will be on hand to help with the event. Featured partners include the Sweetwater County Library System, Parents As Teachers, SW-WRAP, USBORNE Books, City of Rock Springs Taekwondo, Pineda, Student United Way, and WWCC International Club. Stop by either SCCDC location for giveaways, fun activities, and to support children’s early education in our community during “Kids Around the World” day on Friday, March 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
