Annual Nurse Breakfast Honors Local Nurses

SWEETWATER COUNTY — Wyoming Nursing Association’s District 6 held their annual Nurse Breakfast on May 9th, 2015 at the Open Range Restaurant.

This year there were 34 nurse that attended from Sweetwater County. In attendance were nurses from multiple facilities from Sweetwater County: Retired nurses were . Kathy Kumer, Jeannie Piner, Mary Purdy.  Other in attendance were: Bethany Bettolo, Charlene Stillion, Robin Rynio, Cindy Bloom,  Kathy Luzmoor, Patty O’Lexey, Julie Leavitt, Jennifer Roger, Jessie Wilcox, Greer Ferrero, Susan Arguello, Teddi VanKam, Shelby Williams, Amanda Molski, Melissa Mansfield, Marilou Granthom, Leanna Lovato, Kara Jackson, Kathy Kisiel, Jean Brunz, Stacy Wells, Angela Stangl, Robbin Wolfley, Krysta Axtell, Kristy Nielson, Bill Spillman, Heidi Brown, Carla Lee, Deanne Garner, Jolene Endres and Rachelle Stratton. The annual breakfast allows nurses to come together and celebrate nursing.

WNA is the professional association for all registered nurses in Wyoming – a community of nurses across all specialties and practice settings working to promote the profession of nursing. Their mission is to promote the profession of nursing, provide a unified voice for nurses, and advocate for a healthier Wyoming.  Kathy Luzmoor has been representing WNA’s District 6 for the past several years and explained that there have been some reorganization at the state level, and they have combined districts into regions. Nurses should see these changes later on this year.  Kathy Luzmoor encouraged all nurses to become an active part of the WNA to enhance and strengthen their nursing career.

District 6 annually receives nomination for Nurse of the Year. This year 4 nominations were submitted: Heidi Brown Nursing Instructor from Western Wyoming Community College, Shelby Williams Nursing Instructor from Western Wyoming Community College, Deborah Gaspar Chief Nursing Operator at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County, and Jessie Wilcox Director of Rocky Mountain Home Health Service.   This year’s WNA District 6 Nurse of the Year is Jessie Wilcox.
