Bomb Making Materials Found in Park

Members of the Sweetwater Bomb Squad responded to a call over the weekend.

ROCK SPRINGS — According to Rock Springs Police Chief Dwane Pacheco, law enforcement was dispatched to a local park in reference to potential bomb-making materials found by a Parks and Rec clean-up crew.

On Sunday, October 11, 2015 at approximately 9:32 a.m. members of the Rock Springs Parks and Rec Department were conducting clean-up at Steven’s Park. The Park is located at 901 West Street which is located a few blocks South of Zoobeck’s.  The clean-up crew located what they believed could be bomb making materials or an actual bomb.  

Officers of the Rock Springs Police Department responded and found several suspicious items including bullets, engine starting fluid and other materials.

The Sweetwater County Bomb Squad was called out and the Rock Springs Fire Department and medics were placed on standby.  

The investigation is continuing.  

The Rock Springs Police Department reminds citizens that all persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
