Brenli Jenkins Caps Outstanding Career Passing 1,500 Total Points

Brenli Jenkins shares her 1,500-point milestone during a surprise ceremony with her family and teammates at Tiger Arena.

ROCK SPRINGS — Rock Springs High School senior Brenli Jenkins became the first player in school history to top the 1,500-point plateau in her outstanding basketball career last week.

The four-year starter passed the elusive mark during the Make-A-Wish game against county rival Green River last Thursday night. The Lady Tigers came away with a 49-41 victory in the game.

As the Lady Tigers prepared for their first-round regional tournament game last night, head coach Ramiro Candelaria, members of Brenli’s family, and her teammates decided to surprise her with a congratulatory ceremony at Tiger arena.

Jenkins joins an elite group of Wyoming high school players who topped 1,500 points in their career, and now holds the school record for most points scored. Ky Buell ended her career with 1,978 points, but split her time between Rock Springs and Cheyenne East.

March Madness

The 3A/4A regional tournaments are set to tip off today at locations all around the Cowboy State. Here’s a look at the schedule for our Sweetwater County teams today.

4A West Regionals (Riverton, WY)

Boys: 10:30 a.m. – Green River (2) v. Rock Springs (7)
Girls: 12 p.m. – Rock Springs (3) v. Evanston (6); 3:30 p.m. – Green River (4) v. Star Valley (5)

Winners will advance to the semifinal round tomorrow afternoon. The championship games will be held on Saturday afternoon.
