A call to residents to help one Rock Springs family has been made

 

ROCK SPRINGS – Whether walking through a car show downtown or attending an event to help a family, you can often hear people say how generous the residents of Rock Springs can be when it comes to helping one of their own. A recent tragedy has folks asking for residents to step up and help a family who recently was left devastated.

For one young Rock Springs family, Andrew, Betty Jo and Shelby Chirstiansen, the world was theirs for the taking. Andrew and Betty Jo were just getting to experience the joy of parenthood and all the excitement that goes along with it. On May 17, this family’s world was shattered and changed forever.

Andrew was life flighted to Salt Lake City where he remained in intensive care for four days after suffering a brain aneurism He had to have two brain surgeries as doctors fought to save his life. Despite the efforts of the dedicated medical staff, on May 21, Andrew passed away.

Andrew left behind his three-month old daughter Shelby and his wife Betty Jo, who are now trying to pick up the pieces.

When a tragedy like this happens,  we often watch as groups of people, organizations and employers take the family in and do everything they can to ease the pain. Betty Jo and Shelby are seeing this as Johnny Mac’s has taken the lead to help.

Left with hospital bills, not to mention the family’s everyday bills, Johnny Macs is asking for the public’s help to help one of their own.

On Saturday, Johnny Mac’s will host an event set up to provide this help to Betty Jo and Shelby. The event starts at 2 p.m. with a Cornhole tournament at 2:30 p.m. Along with drink and beer specials, there will also be a 50/50 raffle, as well as a silent auction and live auction. Along with the auction and games, burgers and hot dogs will be available for event participants. All proceeds from the event will go to help Betty Jo and Shelby,

For residents who are not old enough to get into a bar or may not want to go to a bar, there is a way you still can help. Donations to Betty Jo and Shelby can be made at Bank of the West and of course at Johnny Mac’s at anytime.
