Dear Parent,
The time is here! Construction of the building has reached substantial completion. City, Fire, Health, and Department of Family Services inspections will be completed today. Volunteers and staff are working hard to ensure everything will be ready to move throughout the building beginning Monday, November 11, 2013.
A huge thanks goes to the SCCDC Board of Directors Dr. Cristy Magagna (Sweetwater #2 Representative), John Hassert, Steven Powell (Rock Springs Parent Representative), Regina Clark, Joyce Cochren (Sweetwater #1 Representative), Venessa Brehens, Connie Hollin (Green River Parent Representative), Kathy Hodges, and Ron Gossard. If you see any of these dedicated volunteers, please, give them a smile and a “thank you”. The children of Rock Springs have a permanent home for preschool because of the SCCDC Board’s dedication to children and families. Additionally, know that each of you helped to provide funding for the CDC by living and shopping in Sweetwater County. This project is a result of the 6th penny tax, and the expanded space means the SCCDC will now be able to offer additional services to students!
Many of you have called or talked with staff to ask if it was possible for your child to attend preschool four days a week. Our newly remodeled building allows for increased capacity and now makes it possible for the CDC to offer additional service days. Beginning next week the CDC in Rock Springs will be offering expanded preschool services and will offer preschool four days each week for our 4 and 5 year old classes. It is EXCITING to be able to offer expanded services for children and families!
Construction completion and expanding services will mean your child will experience a change next week. Changes may include attending school in a different classroom location in the Rock Springs building, having a different teacher, paraeducator, teaching assistant, and/or your child meeting new peers who will become a part of their preschool classroom.
The Sweetwater County Commissioner’s Construction Crew will continue to be working onsite to complete a few projects throughout the building for the next couple of months. Expect to see construction workers when you are in the building to drop off, pick up, and have meetings with regards to your child.
If you see any of our County Commissioners: Wally Johnson, Gary Bailiff, John Kolb, Reid West, or Don Van Matre; please thank them for their oversight of our construction project. The building looks fabulous. The County Facility Manager, Chuck Radosevich, has been the lead for the construction project and has ensured everything happened smoothly, on budget, and on time. Let them know how appreciative families are for making this happen for our children.
Feel free to call if you have questions about the CDC’s expanded services or the construction project by contacting your child’s teacher or me.
Sincerely,
Dr. Shelly R. Wall, Executive Director
