Chris Stassinos (November 16, 1968 – October 6, 2013)

ROCK SPRINGS – Mark Christopher Stassinos, affectionately known as “Chris” entered into eternal rest in the early morning of Sunday, October 6, 2013 as a result of injuries received in a tragic accident. Chris was 44 years old.

Chris was born in the town of Rock Springs in Sweetwater County, Wyoming on November 16, 1968. He was the eighth child, and the youngest son, of the late Harry and Evelyn M. (Asay) Stassinos.

His family lived in the Sweetwater County area, where Chris attended Rock Springs public schools and graduated from Rock Springs High School in 1987 where he wrestled for the Rock Springs Tigers. Chris’ employers included chief of operations at the Rock Springs-Sweetwater County Airport, Searle Brother’s Construction and Jim Bridger Coal.

His passions included hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, barbequing pigs, coaching baseball for the Rock Springs Little League and football for the Young American Football League. He was a devoted Kansas City Chief’s fan.

Chris will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving father, a wonderful brother and uncle and a humorist. Of the many accomplishments Chris has had, being a father has been his greatest. Chris spent many of his recent years as a single parent of his two children, who were the center of his universe.

Family and spending time with them is what mattered most to him. Chris was well known for having a heart of gold and forming a solid, unbreakable bond with all those he touched in his life. His family and friends will miss most his quick wit, many laughs and smiles.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents and brother in-law, Steve G. Hennessey.

Chris is survived by his two children, Tristan H. and Maygen N. Stassinos, his ranch dog, Bella; sisters and brothers and their spouses: Deborah (Debbie) M. (Stassinos) and Robert (Bob) D. White, Barbie A. (Stassinos) Hennessey, Theresa L. (Stassinos) and David M. Piaia, James (Jimmy) M. Stassinos, Ronnie A. and Kori Stassinos, Mary Helen (Stassinos) and Jay Whitfield, John (Johnny) H. and Mary J. Stassinos, Jan A. (Stassinos) and B.R. Levitt, Toni M. Stassinos all of Rock Springs, Wyoming; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews: Christi C. Larsen and significant other, Daniel S. Hawkins and children Christopher C. White and Robert Chadwell (Chad) Dunn of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Sean S. and Courtney Guillen and children Madison, Isabella and Nikkos of Denver, Colorado, Stephanie (Stevi) M. and Daniel R. Funeral Services are being coordinated by Vase Funeral Home. A vigil service with rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church at 116 Broadway, Rock Springs, Wyoming. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Sweetwater County Events Complex at 3320 Yellowstone Road, Rock Springs, Wyoming with Father Carl Beavers of the Holy Spirit Catholic Community officiating.

An account in the name of the children has been established at Rock Springs National Bank, P.O. Box 880, Rock Springs, Wyoming 82902, for donations. Honorary Pallbearers will be his brothers, brother in-laws, nephews and close friends Lennie Arnoldi, Shawn Arnoldi, Dean Domson, Steve Fernandez, Bazil Goicolea and Steve Zueck.
