GREEN RIVER – More than 23,000 Wyoming residents enrolled in a health insurance plan through the Marketplace during Open Enrollment last year. More than 92% of those who enrolled received cost assistance to help pay for their health insurance coverage. Enroll Wyoming Navigators will again take to the roads of Wyoming traveling to all 23 counties to help consumers re-enroll and enroll in the Health Insurance Marketplace.
Navigators will hold their initial information and enrollment events to provide consumer assistance in Rock Springs, Evanston, Laramie, Cheyenne, and Casper. In Rock Springs, Navigators will be working with Western Wyoming Reproductive Health to assist people on:
- Tuesday, November 1, 2016, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Health and Human Services Building, 333 Broadway, Rock Springs, WY in the large conference room.
- Wednesday, November 2, 2016, from 8 am to 2 pm at the Health and Human Services Building, 333 Broadway, Rock Springs, WY in the small conference room.
- Wednesday, November 2, 2016, from 4 pm to 7 pm at White Mountain Library, 2935 Sweetwater Drive, Rock Springs, WY.
Cynthia Lara, a Certified Application Counselor and Front Office Coordinator of Sweetwater Health Center and Pharmacy states, “We have partnered with Enroll Wyoming Navigators for two years now. We work with patients in our community every day and understand how important it is to have access to health care with insurance coverage.”
“Navigators are the bridge in the community between the Marketplace and local help. We assist with getting coverage and leave the care to our community partners like Sweetwater Health Center,” says Monica Jennings, Enroll Wyoming Navigator. Cynthia celebrates that “Navigators come and assist with enrolling the community members in a health insurance plan. It’s great! I can assist folks in English and Spanish, and it’s nice to have the help because there is a big need in our town.”
According to Wyoming Health Matters, Sweetwater is one of the top five highest uninsured counties in the state. Enroll Wyoming has made a commitment to this community to build partnerships that will help educate individuals and families about their options and provide boots on the ground to enroll.
In addition to Sweetwater Health Center, Enroll Wyoming navigators will be working closely with Western Wyoming Reproductive Health this year as they now have staff on site to assist with enrollments. “We want all assisters within the state to know that we support their work in their communities to enroll our Wyoming,” Monica continues.
Plans offered on the Health Insurance Marketplace are qualified health plans that meet the standards of the new health care law. All plans cover doctor visits, prescriptions, hospital stays and more. These qualified health insurance plans also cover preventive and wellness services at no additional cost, such as screenings and vaccines as recommended by the Center for
Disease Control (CDC) for plan participants. There are still 28 plans offered on the Marketplace by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming.
