ROCK SPRINGS — Although the need exists, the Rock Springs High School Extension Campus may not receive funding based on the current actions of the legislature.
The state legislature has spent most of their time working on the first two readings of the budget and committee bills. The deadline for these bills is today, Friday, Feb. 19. According to Rep. Mark Baker, R-Sweetwater County, neither house has added money back for the Rock Springs High School Extension Campus. Because the house and the senate have opportunities to amend the budget bills it is difficult to predict whether the changes will be made and what the final decision will be.
.
It is not too late for the local community to have their voice heard on this issue. I would suggest that individuals contact members of the Joint Appropriations Committee to ensure they are informed when they make their final decision.
