GREEN RIVER — With recent burglaries occurring in unlocked cars and garages, Green River Police Department (GRPD) Chief Tom Jarvie is reminding residents to lock up.
According to a Facebook post from the GRPD, recent burglaries have occurred in Green River where unlocked vehicles were targeted and unlocked garages were entered. After the vehicles and garages were rummaged through, items of value were taken.
“While we all love living in a town where our property is seldom disturbed, theft from unlocked vehicles is the most preventable crime Green River officers are called to investigate,” GRPD Chief Tom Jarvie said. “Officers have identified potential suspects in recent thefts, but we need your help in eliminating the opportunities unlocked property provided for these thefts. Let’s lock doors, remove keys and continue to call when you see suspicious activity in your neighborhood.”
Chief Jarvie is encouraging residents to remove valuables from their vehicles and lock them. He’s also encouraging residents to lock all of their doors, including garages, sheds, campers and trailers.
When a resident is done using their 4-wheelers, ATV’s or dirt bikes, they should always remove the keys, the post states.
