
ROCK SPRINGS — Jack G. Podbevsek, 90, of Rock Springs, Wyoming passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. A lifelong resident of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Mr. Podbevsek passed away following a brief illness.
He was born on October 31, 1923 in Rock Springs, Wyoming, the son of the late Jack Podbevsek and Mary Grisena Podbevsek.
Mr. Podbevsek married Arlene Smith in Rock Springs, Wyoming, they were married for many years and later divorced.
He served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre.
Mr. Podbevsek worked for FMC Corporation for 25 years as a miner until his retirement in 1982. His family owned New Tavern and he bartended there for his parents for several years.
He was an avid fisherman and loved traveling to his cabin in Pinedale, Wyoming, He enjoyed watching Utah Jazz Basketball and spending time with family and friends.
Mr. Podbevsek was a member of the American Legion Archie Hay Post 24 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 151 in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Survivors include one son Jack Podbevsek and companion Mary Ann Baker of Phoenix, Arizona; two daughters Laurie Gray and husband Delbert of Rock Springs, Wyoming and Lisa Andicoechea and husband Jose of Rock Springs, Wyoming; four grandchildren, Leontra Gray, Kilji Guiterrez, Joshua Andicoechea and Nikole Andicoechea; five great-grandchildren Oaklan, Alexus, Jayleigh, Jace and Jada.
He was preceded in death by his parents, former wife Arlene and one grandsonTristan Jack Gray.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk Street, Rock Springs, Wyoming. Military Honors and graveside services will be conducted at the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call at the Vase Chapel on Thursday morning from 11:00 A.M. until time of services.
