ROCK SPRINGS – With colder weather upon us, the Rock Springs Police Department (RSPD) would like to remind the public not to leave their vehicles running and to always lock their car doors.  Taking these simple precautions will greatly reduce the opportunity for an automobile theft or burglary.

RS Municipal Ordinance: 5-201a, 31-5-509; Requirements before leaving a motor vehicle unattended

No person driving or in charge of a motor vehicle shall permit it to stand unattended without first stopping the engine, locking the ignition, removing the key from the ignition, effectively setting the brake thereon and, when standing upon any grade, turning the front wheels to the curb or side of the highway.
