The Young and Professional of Sweetwater County (YAP) recently made a holiday donation to Kari’s Access Awards (KAA). YAP, a group of local professionals of all industries, professions and backgrounds, hosts monthly events and several annual fundraisers that raise money to be given back to the community in various ways that meet their mission.
Their donation of $1000 is one of many that will be given out this Holiday season. Gary Collins, YAP co-founder and board member said, “I have seen first-hand many of the children that have been touched by Kari’s Access Awards. With their scholarship requirements they make sure that they are helping the students who need the assistance the most. We can’t think of a greater cause than helping local children and students excel.”
This donation is one of many that YAP has planned to give during the holidays, along with their annual fundraisers to support Toys for Kids (RSFD) and feeding families during Thanksgiving.
ABOUT KARI’S ACCESS AWARDS
Kari’s Access Awards is an endowment fund started in 2006 in memory of Kari (Kay) Fusselman who was a student at Westridge Elementary, White Mountain Junior High, and Rock Springs High School.
Through their philanthropy, Kari’s Access Awards has been able to help over 250 local students with awards totaling $47,000.
The fund gives School District #1 students access to non-traditional scholarships. These scholarships allow students to participate in outside programs enhancing learning and personal growth beyond their daily school activities. Students must meet the requirements of the program based on attendance, grades, and need. You can find out more through the School District One Foundation.
