SWEETWATER COUNTY – Get your Dachshund ready and head to Downtown Rock Springs Oct. 17 for the Sweetwater County’s third annual Long Dog Derby.
All proceeds support the homeless Dachshunds at Second Chance to Dance Dachshund Rescue. The races take place October 17th starting at Noon. They will take place at the Rock Springs Urban Renewal Building, 450 S Main St, Rock Springs.
Same Day registration is available day of race and there is a fee of $15 to participate. Generous Doggie Gift baskets will be presented to the winners of each catagory, Online Registration can be completed here.
Catagories include: Little Links (under 1 year old), Frankfurters (1-5years old), Bier Brats (5-10 years old), Senior Schnitzels (10+ years), Chariots of Fire (Handicapped Dachshunds) and Wanna Be Wieners (Dachshund Mixes).
The event is also in need of extra volunteers to help set up the track, be line judges, help with registration, ect. Volunteers should be there at 10 a.m.

This year, the race will be part of theHOWL-O-Ween Pet Costume Contest. After the races will be a costume contest, so bring out your Dachshunds finest Costume to win a prize.
