Low Cost Vaccination Clinic in Rock Springs Takes Place March 28

ROCK SPRINGS — The Companion Animal Care Committee, CAC, is hosting its first low cost vaccination clinic in collaboration with Desert View Animal Hospital. CAC is a newly formed committee put into place by the City Council and Mayor Demshar to provide pet welfare education and promote responsible pet ownership.

On Saturday March 28th from 1-4pm, CAC will be hosting a clinic to encourage pet owners to get their pets vaccinated and licensed. The clinic will be held at the Rock Springs Animal Control building, located behind Albertson’s right next to the Bitter Creek Bark Park.

The goal of the clinic is to allow pet owners to get their pets current on all vaccinations required to obtain a city license. This will ensure that more animals are healthy and protected from serious illnesses as well as being licensed with the city. “A city license is your pet’s ticket home.” Said Melinda Baas, member of the CAC Committee. “By licensing your pet you will dramatically shorten the time it takes for Animal Control to get your lost pet back to your home.”

Vaccinations will cost $40 for an unaltered (not spayed or neutered) dog, $20 for an altered dog and $20 for a cat (altered or not). A city license will be included with each vaccination. Even if a pet owner does not live in the City of Rock Springs having the license means your pet will be easier to return to you if it becomes lost, and the license allows your pet to enter the Bitter Creek Bark Park.

Animal Control will be open for adoptions during the Clinic and community members are encouraged to stop by find out more about services for pet owners in the community. Each person that brings in their pet for vaccinations will be entered to win one of three gift prizes from Zoobecks, Joe’s Pet Depot and Murdoch’s. The Red Desert Humane Society will also be providing goodie bags to the Clinic.

CAC committee is made up of seven members. Members are: Melinda Baas, Dorothy Savage, Anne-Marie Foster, Angela Williams, Janice Knadjian, Dr. Stephanie Wallendorff, and Mike Kiggins- Animal Control Officer. The committee meets every 4th Tuesday of the month at City Hall. The public is welcome to attend.
