PARK COUNTY — The body of missing hiker Michael Alan Shotts was discovered in a canal near Cody by an irrigation worker on Tuesday morning.

Shotts, a 50-year-old man, was reported missing on Sunday, May 3, after his wife discovered he had not come back home Saturday night. She had found their two dogs and his truck where he had parked. His last known whereabouts were in the area of the Hayden Arch Bridge.

After alerting the authorities, Park County Search and Rescue began a search for Shotts on Sunday and continued the search Monday, but did not find him. At 9:46 am on Tuesday morning, an irrigation worker had found Shotts’ body in the Heart Mountain Canal.
