ROCK SPRINGS – A suspicious package was cleared and deemed harmless by the Sweetwater County Bomb Squad Friday afternoon.

The bomb squad was dispatched around 1 p.m. this afternoon after receiving a call about a suspicious package located at Dewar and Gateway. Traffic was diverted from the area and the bomb squad was able to get the package and remove it from the area.

Sweetwater County Sheriff Spokesman Dick Blust said the package was two pvc glue cans taped together. He said the bomb squad x-rayed the package and it was deemed harmless.

Traffic was returned to normal shortly after 2 p.m.
