Resident Thanks City for its Work Mitigating Flooding Issues on Lionkol Road

ROCK SPRINGS – Weather has made for an interesting summer in Rock Springs. On Tuesday, one local resident thanked the city for everything.

Flooding issues took center stage this summer after Rock Springs was pounded with rain. Even after the big flooding in July, issues continued throughout the summer for residents along Lionkol Road.

At a recent meeting, Kramer approached the city voicing concerns about these issues in the Lionkol Road area located off Elk Street. Even after the major flooding in July, Lionkol Road continued to have flooding issues for several months.

On Tuesday, Kramer thanked the city and  Rock Springs Director of Engineering & Operations Paul Kauchich for listening, talking to residents and working with residents to solve the problem.

City crews have been working on the area since these issues arose. Included in the work was putting larger culverts in to help drainage.

Rock Springs Mayor Carl Demshar thanked Kramer for her patience and understanding through this process. The mayor also thanked Kauchich and the city crews who have been working throughout the city to address issues and keep residents safe.

As he has several times this summer, Demshar said municipalities can design and build storm systems but there will be storms which no storm system can handle. He also said this summer has been a challenge for the city balancing finding a solution to flooding issues like Lionkol Road and making sure the rest of the city’s needs continue to be met.
