GREEN RIVER — Matt Robles was named the new head coach of the Green River High School (GRHS) Lady Wolves soccer program on Monday afternoon.
Robles, who is an employee of Sweetwater County School District No. 2, will take over the program with collegiate coaching experience.
From 2006 to 2007 and 2011 to 2016, Robles served as an assistant coach for the Western Wyoming Community College (WWCC) Men’s team. During his time at WWCC, Robles assisted in directing the team to the Region IX NJCAA Championship, a second place finish in the NJCAA District Tournament, and an eighth place finish at the NJCAA National Championships. In addition, he coached several All-Conference college players and was selected by the NJCAA as an Assistant College Soccer Coach of the Year during his tenure at WWCC.
Robles is a GRHS graduate from 2004, who played for the Wolves and served as a team captain and member of the Olympic Development Program. He also played soccer at Laramie County Community College and WWCC.
“We are excited to work with Matt as our new GRHS Girls’ Head Soccer Coach. Coach Robles is a hard-working and dedicated employee within the Sweetwater County School District No. 2 and brings a great deal of soccer coaching knowledge to our girls’ program,” GRHS Athletic Director Tony Beardsley said.
