ROCK SPRINGS – As summer hits its peak, there are events almost every day in Rock Springs. The Rock Springs City Council will take action on several requests for some upcoming events on Tuesday night.
After running into some problems with its last request, the Bareback Saloon is returning to the council with an updated request for an outdoor event. The applicant, Lindsey Marler, is asking to extend their serving area for an event on Aug. 2 from 4 p.m. until midnight. Their intentions are to host an outdoor event with a mechanical bull.
This is the same event which they did last year. During last year’s event, the Rock Springs Police Department received a noise complaint. Marler said this year, they will be sure to have all music and microphones off at 11 p.m. and the area returned to its normal state by midnight.
Marler also submitted a diagram of the event with her request.
There is also a request from Steve’s Wyoming Club who are also asking to host an outdoor fundraiser event. They are asking for permission to block off a section of K Street on July 19 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Red Desert Roundup Rodeo is also on the agenda. The Liquor Depot is asking for three liquor catering permits for the rodeo which takes place July 24-26 at the Sweetwater Events Complex. If approved, the permits will run from noon to midnight each day.
Black Rock Inc. is asking for four liquor catering permits for Sweetwater Downs Horse Racing August 16-17 and then against on Aug. 30-31. The races will be at the Sweetwater Events Complex outdoor arena from noon to 6 p.m. each day.
The final request is for another popular downtown event, the Blues n’ Brews Festival. The Rock Springs Renewal Fund is asking permission for a malt beverage permit for the event on Aug. 16 at Bunning Park from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Lease Agreements
The city council will also take action on several lease agreements throughout the city.
The first lease agreement is with the Independent Veterans Alliance for office space at 538 Pilot Butte. The second agreement will be for the Young At Heart Senior Center on 2400 Reagan. The council will also vote on a lease agreement between the city, the Rock Springs Urban Renewal Agency and Kerry and Johanna Richards for the community garden across from the M Street Underpass. The final agreement is with the Sweetwater Family Resource Center for office space at 538 Pilot Butte.
