SHERIDAN – Another high school golf season was put in the books this weekend as Green River and Rock Springs traveled to Sheridan for the 2015 State Tournament.
Throughout the season, the Lady Tigers showed growth and strength. They finished the season in sixth place only two strokes out of fifth place. Sheridan took the individual title with a seven stroke advantage over Natrona, 501 to 508. Laramie rounded out the top five on the girl’s side with 550.
Individually, Calie Cox has paced the Lady Tigers this season and did it again at state. She finished with a two-day total of 177 to finish in eighth. Caitlyn Skavdahl of Natrona won the title by 12 strokes with a 148.
Lady Tiger Lyndzie Kroupa shot a 198 which put her in 21st for the tournament. Kaylen Taucher was right behind in 25 while Makenzie Kroupa finished in a tie for 28th. Makinzie Havskjold rounded out the scoring for Rock Springs with a 34th-place finish.
For the Lady Wolves of Green River this season was one of growth for the team. Overall, Green River finished in seventh place with a 690.
Kelsee Burton paced the team with a 31st-place finish. Michelle Comstock finished in 36th while Sydnee Sanchez rounded out the Lady Wolves with a 37th-place finish.
4A Boys
For the Tigers, they have had strong finishes individuallythroughout the season.
In Sheridan, Rock Springs finished in eighth as a team with a total of 681. It was no surprise as Riverton took home the team title in dominating fashion. As a team. the Wolverines shot a 597 which was over 30 strokes better than Central who finished with 633. Kelly Walsh took third beating Natrona in a playoff for the spot.
Individually, Riverton’s Easton Paxton added another trophy to his case. He shot a two-day total of 131 which was 13 strokes better than Kirby Coe-Kirkham of Sheridan who finished with a 144.
Tiger Garrett Phillips paced Rock Springs coming in 10th with a 156. Darron Hyde tied for 29th while Ryan Brandt finished tied for 32nd. Dillion Hale finished in the 41st spot while Giovanni Pizzato rounded out the Tiger scoring finished in 52nd.
The Wolves finished 12th as a team. Kyle Howard finished 51st with a total of 204. Grant Cobb was right behind in 53rd while Rocky Cordova finished in the 54th position. Gavin Heiser finished 55th and Ashton Bryce rounded out the Green River scoring with a 58th-place finish.
3A
In 3A it was Pinedale who took home the top trophies. As a team they edged out Torrington by one shot for the title, 671 to 672. Star Valley was right behind shooting a 680 to take third. Lander and Wheatland rounded out the top five.
Individually it was Pinedale’s Jordan Costello who earned the top finish. Costello pulled away from the field finishing 16 shots better than second place Brady Fullmer of Star Valley. Wrangler Jak Tanner also posted a top-ten finish for Pinedale coming in tied for sixth.
On the girl’s side it was Cody taking the title with a 584. Douglas finished with a 601 while Jackson finished third with a 618. The ladies of Pinedale shot a 657 to finish in the fifth spot.
Lander’s Macy Jacobson took home individual honors with a 164. Pinedale was led by Kaycee Kennedy who shot a 189 tied for fourth.
2A
It was Thermopolis who took home the team title on the boy’s side in 2A shooting a 752. This was 60 shots ahead of the second-place team of Sundance. Lyman shot an 857 to round out the top three. Kemmerer finished in the eighth position.
Wright’s Dallas Millin finished with a 149, 18 shots ahead of second place. Lyman was let by Preston Jackson who finished in 12th while Nathan Koch finished in a tie for 13th with Kemmerer’s leading golfer Ty Hysell.
Big Horn won the girl’s 2A title.
