RS City Council will look at several alcohol permit requests which include the Sweetwater County Fair and the Mountain States Rodeo; Two military recognitions also on the Tuesday agenda

ROCK SPRINGS – Alcohol permits for a couple of the major summer events will be voted on at the Rock Springs City Council meeting Tuesday night. The meeting gets underway at 7 p.m. at Rock Springs City Hall.

The council will look at several malt beverage and liquor catering permits. Included in these are a couple of requests from the Sweetwater County Events Complex. The biggest request is for five malt beverage permits for the Wyoming Big Show which will run July 28 through Aug. 1.

The complex is asking for the permits to be valid from 4 p.m. to midnight. On Aug. 1, the complex is asking for the time to be extended from noon to midnight.

The second request from the complex is for three malt beverage permits for the Mountain States Circuit Finals Rodeo which will take place Oct. 22-24. If approved the permits would be valid from 5 p.m. to midnight each day.

There are also permit requests for a few upcoming events. The council will vote on a request from NAG, LLC., for a liquor catering permit for the Ducks Unlimited event on April 4. The time request is from 4 p.m. until midnight. NAG has a second request for a liquor catering permit for the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County Red Tie Gala. The time requested is from 5 p.m. until midnight. Both events are at the Sweetwater County Events Complex.

The final request from Black Rock, Inc., for a liquor catering permit for the Mary Johnson birthday party on March 21 from 3 p.m. until 11 p.m. The party is at the old American Legion Hall, 543 Broadway.

 

Military Recognition

Recently, the Rock Springs City Council has been working on bringing back military recognitions. There are two on the agenda.

The first is for Aaron Pacheco who is a member of the U.S. Army infantry division. It was originally scheduled to take place at the last meeting but was moved to Tuesday night. The second recognition is for Thomas Gardner who is a member of the U.S. Marine Corp.

The council is looking for local military residents. If you are or know a local member of the military who has not been honored, contact Rock Springs City Hall or Councilman Tim Savage for information.

 

Appointments

The council will act on two appointments from Rock Springs Mayor Carl Demshar to fill open seats on local boards and committees. The first is to appoint Trevor Mansfield to the Rock Springs Broadway Theater Board. If approved this will be his second term.

The final appointment is to appoint Councilman Clark Stith to a first term on the Sweetwater County 2013 Specific Purpose Tax Joint Powers Board.

 

Presentations

There are two presentations scheduled to take place at the Tuesday meeting. The first is the Young-At-Heart Senior Center who will be giving its annual report. Don Hartley will also be giving an update from the Communities Protecting the Green Committee.
