ROCK SPRINGS – With summer knocking on the door, many groups are starting to prepare for different summer events. On Tuesday, the Rock Springs City Council will look at several different requests.
The first is for one of the biggest events in Rock Springs during the summer months, International Day. This year’s event will be on July 11 at Bunning Park. The International Day Committee has requested assistance from the Rock Springs Police Department, Streets Department and Parks and Recreation Department similar to what has been requested in the past for this event.
RSHS Cheer Team
The Rock Springs High School Cheer Team is also asking for city approval for a color fun run and rally which would be in conjunction with the Tiger Bash. The Bash was started by Downtown Rock Springs last year in conjunction with the farmers market. Residents could meet and talk to students involved in different activities at RSHS.
The color stations would be at the entrance of the Bunning Transfer pipe yard on Blair Avenue, one of the parking areas O’Reilly Parts or the car wash on Dewar and a final one at Zoobeck’s parking area. Organizers of the event said the color that would be purchased and used is made of cornstarch and fully biodegradable. They also informed the council they would not be interfering with the residential areas or public roadways. The runners will be notified that they will be required to stay on the sidewalks and in the parking areas.
The run would end at Bunning Park where the cheer team would like to have a DJ present along with some food and drink vendors for a dance and celebration for all the participants. All festivities would end by 9 p.m.
“We are in the process of getting letters of agreement from the property owners/businesses for the color stations. We are also seeking approval from WYDOT,” the request said.
