Several Events will be Discussed at Tuesday’s Rock Springs City Council Meeting

ROCK SPRINGS – It has been an eventful summer for Rock Springs residents. On Tuesday, the Rock Springs City Council will discuss and take action on several of these events.

Before the regularly scheduled Rock Springs City Council meeting, groups will sit down and talk about the biggest event of the summer thus far. On Tuesday night at 6 p.m. the council, emergency responders and any interested residents will sit down to discuss the flood.

This council will conduct this post event review to look at several things. The biggest item that will be discuss is the emergency response to the recent flooding. The workshop will take place in City Council Chambers.

Outdoor Events and alcohol permit requests

The council will take action on several requests for alcohol permits for upcoming events. Among these is three requests for outdoor parties in the community.

The Park LLC is requesting permission to host outdoor knockout boxing events on July 25 and Aug. 22. Lew’s, Inc. is asking for permission to hold an outdoor party/car show on September 19, from noon to 11 p.m.

The final outdoor event request comes from Killpeppers. They are asking for permission to host an outdoor Kustom Car & Bike Show on August 23, from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Two major events have also submitted requests for liquor catering permits. The Red Desert Roundup Rodeo, which takes place this weekend at the Sweetwater Events Complex, is asking for three liquor catering permits for the event on July 23 through July 25. If approved the permits will be good from 6 p.m. until midnight each day.

Black Rock, Inc. has submitted a request to the city for nine liquor catering permits for the Sweetwater County Horse Races. The races take place at the Events Complex Aug. 21-23, Aug. 28-30 and Sept. 4-6. If approved, these permits will be good from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.

The Park, LLC has also requested a liquor catering permit for the Long Wedding Reception on October 10, from noon to midnight at the Rock Springs Freight Station.

 

Contract Request

There is an events contract which the council will be looking at Tuesday night. The contract is with Thomas Seaton Productions and Cirque Motion Performance for an upcoming performance at the Broadway Theater.

The event will take place Oct. 24 and will feature a 90 minute theatrical circus show featuring juggling, balancing, acrobatics and comedy.

Some terms in the contract include Downtown Rock Springs providing lodging. TSP is asking for three, non-smoking, double hotel rooms.

The contract also states TSP will utilize house lighting and audio system. Finally, TSP is also asking for 50 percent of all ticket sales form Cirque Motion Performance which will be paid upon completion of the final performance.
