SWEETWATER COUNTY – Male deputies and detention officers of the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the American Cancer Society’s “No Shave November,” an event designed to raise awareness of testicular and prostate cancer, Sheriff Rich Haskell said today.
Normally, beards are not allowed for road deputies, detectives, and detention deputies, but the rules are being relaxed for the month of November, 2013, for those who choose to participate. County officers will be allowed to grow beards that remain within the standards of a professional appearance.
Haskell said the November program targets male cancer issues, just as October was the American Cancer Society’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month and focused on cancer in women.
