The sounds of American Legion baseball return to Rock Springs as Archie Hay Post 24 hosts season opening tournament

ROCK SPRINGS – Archie Hay Post 24 American Legion Baseball season kicks off this weekend with the Archie Hay Invite.

A total of seven teams will take part in the invite with Rock Springs playing host to Green River Friday at 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday action begins at 9 a.m. Rock Springs will play Torrington at 8:30 p.m. On Sunday, Rock Springs will play Jackson at 1:30 p.m. and Rawlins at 6 p.m.

“We encourage the public to come out and support the baseball team,” said League President John Grossnickle. “We’ve implemented some new things to make the experience more enjoyable for fans and the players appreciate the support from the community.”

The teams attending the tournament are Rock Springs, Green River, Evanston, Jackson, Rawlins, Riverton and Torrington.

TOURNAMENT RULES
1. Games are 7 innings, 8-run rule after 5 innings and 12-run rule after 3 innings.

2. No inning will begin after two hours fifteen minutes of play. Games tied when time limit expires will get one additional inning. If still tied, winner will be determined by most hits, then runners to third, runners to second, then coin flip.

3. Only coaches and uniformed players are allowed inside the fence. Bat boys are permitted.

4. American Legion rules apply but all roster batters may bat up to 12 players.

5. Complete lineups must be delivered to crows nest and opposing team 10 minutes prior to game.

6. Times listed are guidelines only. Games will begin as soon as prior game is completed and field is prepared.

7. Teams may take one pre-game infield per day.
