Stand Against Domestic Violence With Vigil at Bunning Park

ROCK SPRINGS—Stand against domestic violence with the Sweetwater County Family Justice Center as they host a candlelight vigil and allow survivors to tell their stories.

Activities start at Bunning Park in Rock Springs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 13th.

Participants will have the chance to read the stories of domestic violence survivors here in Rock Springs. Known as the Clothesline Project, their stories are written on t-shirts and hung on a clothesline as a way to express those painful and traumatic experiences.

Domestic violence survivors will have the opportunity to add to the Clothesline Project by making their own t-shirt.

The candlelight vigil is to honor all the women who have died at the hands of domestic violence, according to Abbie Gunyan, direct service advocate for the Sweetwater County Family Justice Center.

“It is in our town. We need to speak up and stop it,” said Gunyan.

Speakers at the event will include Monica Salazar, an abuse survivor, and Aimee Gatzke, director of the Sweetwater County Family Justice Center.
