SUBLETTE COUNTY — A sixth day of searching for missing Pinedale resident “Rick” De Ruiter Zylker yielded nothing as rescues crews continue to canvass Fremont Lake where he was last seen swimming on Wednesday.
Tip Top Search and Rescue (TTSAR) boat “Closure” and crews worked on completing their search area north of Moosehead Bay on Fremont Lake today. According to a release from the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office they still have not located Zylker as of 4:30 this afternoon.
Weather conditions were prime and allowed the teams to search well in to this afternoon. The weather forecast is favorable for the rest of the week.
The TTSAR also began mapping defined boundaries of rocky areas which will aid in building a 3D sonar map showing the steep sides and cliff sections. This will help with the deployment of our Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV), according to the SCSO release.
Aiding in the search today were two dog teams from Idaho Search and Rescue Dogs, Inc. out of Driggs, Idaho and Jackson Hole Search Dogs out of Jackson, Wyoming.
One of the teams conducted a free air sniff search of the water as the other team concentrated on the shoreline. The teams then switched, and compared their findings. Both dog teams indicated on the water. Using their GPS waypoints, TTSAR was able to draw another box within its search area.
Plans for tomorrow include reducing the span on the sonar which will enhance resolution, and tighten the search pattern. Search teams plan to use the ROV scan areas and other as targets of interest.
“We will continue to provide updates as they become available,” said SCSO Administrative Sergeant Travis Bingham.
