ROCK SPRINGS – Giving fans the “not so typical” show has been a focus for local band Stones Throe for several years. The band for music fans will hit the stage at Buddha Bob’s this Saturday at 9 p.m.

For many years, local band Stones Throe has brought their unique sound and live show to fans. The band released two albums. one in 2005 and another in 2008 and, like other bands, have had a or couple lineup changes but have continued to entertain for the past decade.

Eric Anderson, Darren Locke, Jerod Sarcletti and Jim Stroud have not only entertained fans at local watering holes, they have entertained fans of the Concerts in the Park series for several years and have also brought down the house at local festivals including Flaming Gorge Days.

While fans of some bands can catch them once a month, Stones Throe has been a band that does not do a lot of live shows. While Sarcletti said some of this has been planned, the band agreed most of it is because of four different working schedules.

Anderson recalled early on in the band’s beginnings, they really focused on recording and practicing rather than playing live. It wasn’t until after Stroud joined the band, the focus changed to include more live shows. Stroud, who fans may also know as the guitar player in Nowhere Fast and other projects, joined the band during the recording of the second album. Anderson said Stroud was helping with guitar leads on the second album and Anderson was also working with Stroud on recording Nowhere Fasts record.

“It was a natural fit,” Anderson said.

With Stroud in the band, Stones Throe starting playing more live shows. Not only did booking gigs around four busy schedules limit this, Sarcletti said they really wanted to limit how many times they played live to make it more of an event for fans of the band.

“Sometimes it is hard to find the time to get to rehearse,” Locke said.

However, this may change soon. The band said while they still have priorities, their schedules have become more stable. Anderson said they have also started looking at playing some gigs outside the county but this is still been hard for the band do.

Getting the opportunity to see Stones Throe is not the typical show. Not only does the band play less often, they also bring more of the show with fog, lights and a focus on the sound. Anderson is one of the best locally as he produced and currently continues to work with many local bands and musicians in his basement studio.

The band was pretty much in agreement as each one said they really focus on giving fans the “whole show.”

While the band has a blues and rock influence, they are not defined by one genre or one era. “I was listening to Simon and Garfunkel on my way over here,” Sacreletti said.

Anderson said while you can hear the different influences in their individual playing, they don’t try to emulate anyone and try to keep it as original as possible. You can also see this in the setlist the band is working on for the Saturday show. Music from Bad Company to Thin Lizzy to Volbeat and from almost every decade from the 1960’s to the present is on the possible set list.

“We are really a music lover’s band,”

Jerod Sarcletti

“Exactly,” Anderson said. “We don’t focus on one genre or one decade. We like to have fun and play music from the sixties to music today such as Seether.”

The type of show they play also changes. While the band will play a lot of favorites and covers on Saturday a show like the Concerts in the Parks will feature more of their original songs. Stroud said when they played Flaming Gorge Days, 75 to 80 percent of the songs they played were original songs.

No matter what they are playing or where they are playing fans can expect a good time. Stroud said fans who come to Buddha Bob’s on Saturday can expect a lot of great tunes. Locke said expect to have fun while getting to listen to good music.

Many Stones Throe fans wait for them to perform and come out. Anderson said there are a lot of people, friends and co-workers who come out and they are grateful for everyone who has supported the band.
