UPDATE: September 9
SWCSD#2 has released a video that they say disproves the allegation against their driver.
LANDER – At the tail-end of the school week last week, three school bus fly-bys were reported in the Lander area and two citations were issued. One of the alleged offenders: a school bus driver from another county.
At about 4:40 p.m. on Friday, Wyoming Highway Patrol received a complaint from Fremont County School District 1 in Lander that another bright yellow BlueBird school bus passed one of their own. The Lander bus was on the side of Highway 789 with its flashing red lights activated when a Sweetwater County School District bus drove past it. It is state law that any vehicle approaching a stopped school bus with its flashing lights on must also stop for the safety of children getting on or off the bus.
WHP Lt. Tom Adams said ultimately Lander Police stopped the suspect bus, and WHP Troopers issued the driver a citation for passing a stopped school bus with its flashing red lights on. The driver was Timothy Swanson, 31, of Green River. The school bus he was driving had children on-board at the time of the alleged traffic violation.
