SWCSO seeking information on armed robbery Friday morning

SWEETWATER COUNTY – A man was robbed at gunpoint Friday morning, and the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office is seeking help from the public in identifying the suspect.

William Hall, a truck driver from Eupora, Mississippi hauling commercial air conditioning units to Washington, was parked at the Bitter Creek Rest Area on the westbound side about 40 miles east of Rock Springs when he was accosted by a man with a handgun around 10:00 AM on March 20.

The man, whom Hall described as a white male in his early 20s wearing a dark blue pullover jacket or hoodie with the gold letters “UA” on the back, demanded Hall’s wallet, which he handed over. In it was about $117.

Hall said the suspect left, westbound, in a dark brown, mid-1980s Ford Ranger pickup with no rear license plate and no tailgate.

Sheriff Mike Lowell says that investigators believe the suspect may be local. Anyone with information on the suspect or his vehicle is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office or other local law enforcement agency; calls will be handled with discretion.
