SWEETWATER COUNTY — The Sweetwater County Republican Party elected new officers Wednesday night during their March meeting in Green River.
Bill Hooley was elected to serve as the new chairman. Bill takes the reins of the party from outgoing chairman Jon Aimone.
Speaking about his election, Bill said, “I am honored to be elected as chairman of the Sweetwater County Republican Party. I’m grateful for all the prior work by past committees that lead to our party becoming the majority party in Sweetwater County. I look forward to continuing that work and seeing our county party grow in the coming years.”
Current voter registration in Sweetwater County reveal that the Republican Party has their largest majority ever, representing 52.26% of the voters. Democrats represent 36.52%, and 10.59% of registered voters are unaffiliated.
Rounding out the list of officers elected Wednesday night are: J. Island Richards, Vice Chairman; Leo Klatka, Second Vice Chairman; Teresa Richards, State Committeewoman; and, Island Richards, State Committeeman. Donnalee Bobak will also continue her role as Secretary.
Bill, Teresa and Island will travel to Casper on April 11, where they will join the rest of the Wyoming Republican Central Committee to elect new state officers. Current State Party Chairman Tammy Hooper is not running for reelection, so the Wyoming Republican Party will also see a change in leadership this year.
