SWEETWATER COUNTY — The Sweetwater Events Complex has gained Sweetwater County Commission approval to proceed with an outdoor pavilion project.
The Events Complex is currently in the process of planning stages of the project.
The structure will be built on the hill southeast of the main exhibit hall. Kandi Pendleton, Events Complex Executive Director, said they hope to begin construction this summer, with completion by summer 2023.
This project is being funded entirely by a generous donation from the Spicer Family Foundation. According to a press release from the events complex, the donors explained that they see the donation as an investment in the Sweetwater Events Complex and what it can do for the community.
“It’s a very generous donation by the Spicer Family Foundation and I don’t know that we could have raised the funds doing the little events that we were doing in 10 years, so this was a huge step for us,” Pendleton said.

The partially enclosed structure will include wind-blocking shutters, a gas fireplace with fire pits, and can fit up to 500 people. White Mountain will be the backdrop for the pavilion, providing a picturesque venue, said Pendleton. Additionally, pathways will wind around the structure and surrounding landscaping, and all pathways will be ADA-accessible.
Pendleton said it is a big area so that they can host larger events such as entertainment for RV rallies, weddings, and reunions. However, Pendleton said the pavilion will also serve as a space for Sweetwater County residents to enjoy regularly.
The Sweetwater County Commission said this is an exciting project as they unanimously approved the Events Complex to proceed with construction.
