ROCK SPRINGS – On Tuesday, the Rock Springs City Council will look at two event requests that will require road closures in downtown Rock Springs.
The first is a request from the American Legion Riders who are requesting to close a portion of South Main Street this Saturday. The Riders are having their annual charity run and are asking the city to close S. Main St. between D and E Street from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The group is asking for the closure for biker games as well as to have adequate parking for all the motorcycles that will be attending the event. The American Legion Riders, as well as the Sons of the American Legion, will be providing Security during this event.
The second request is for a small parade on June 25 requested by the Rock Springs Shrine Club. It coincides with the annual Shrine Ceremony which is in Rock Springs this year. The ceremony takes place at the Sweetwater Events Complex. The last time the Shrine Ceremony was in Rock Springs was in 2008.
The Club is requesting approval to close portions of downtown Rock Springs at 11 a.m. on June 25. The plan is to stage at/near the Park Hotel, then to proceed along North Front Street, turning left on K Street, followed by another left onto 5th Street and back to the Park Hotel area.
The parade will consist of people on foot, mini cars, and a vehicle or two. The anticipated time frame for the parade is approximately 15 minutes.
